"Whatever may be the limitations which trammel inquiry elsewhere, we believe that the great state University of Wisconsin should ever encourage that continual and fearless sifting and winnowing by which alone the truth can be found." - University of Wisconsin motto on Bascom Hall plaque In summer 2006, Steve Nass and 61 state legislators demanded that the University of Wisconsin fire an instructor for publicly doubting the official story of 9/11. The instructor, Kevin Barrett, fought back. After widespread media exposure including hand-to-hand combat with Hannity and a death threat from O'Reilly, Barrett avoided being fired, got high marks from his students, published a book to rave reviews, became the first ever talk radio host with shows on all three leading patriot networks, and is now running for Congress. Sifting and Winnowing: Kevin Barrett at U.W.-Madison is a short documentary by Erika Kramer that recounts Kevin Barrett's academic freedom ordeal. It features interviews with students and academic colleagues including feisty supporter Jim Fetzer and sheepish, half-repentant detractor Donald Downs. Contribute at least $10 to Kevin's campaign for Congress and you'll be eligible to receive an autographed copy of Sifting and Winnowing.
